The Space
Located on the corner of North Ave and Karlov in West Humboldt Park, the space is in a two-story masonry building totaling 11,232 square feet! Last used as a medical office and pharmacy, LUCHA’s renovation will revitalize the building as a community resource and meet a need for locally-driven investment.
Design Inspiration
LUCHA’s renovation will revitalize the building as a community resource. The vision is that in addition to bringing LUCHA’s resources to a more visible and accessible location, the building will be a hub for community activity, where neighbors, local business owners and community groups can gather and collaborate.
The Neighborhood
LUCHA’s roots are in Humboldt Park — we have served as an anchor institution to the community since 1982. Our new flagship headquarters will allow us to continue to serve and support the Humboldt Park community and its neighbors. Located on the busy North Ave corridor, LUCHA’s development of a transit-oriented, equitable, culturally responsive community facility positions us to lead efforts and policies that preserve affordability and the character of the community.
In summer 2022, LUCHA hosted a PlayStreets block party where our new HQ will be. We got to know neighbors, connected with local community businesses and organizations, and learned more about what residents want to see in their neighborhood.
